So I have uploaded 2 pictures under my profile that I would like some critiques on please. I know now that I should have used a back light to highlight the edge/back of the body for separation of background and model, learned that in a workshop.

So I have uploaded 2 pictures under my profile that I would like some critiques on please. I know now that I should have used a back light to highlight the edge/back of the body for separation of background and model, learned that in a workshop. Personally I like that kind of lighting. I am told all the time there needs to be that lighting for seperation but I find I try and process it out in RAW. I love that look you have going on. |

Thank you for your response. Do you think I could have done anything else to take that next step?

Thank you for your response. Do you think I could have done anything else to take that next step? I would add a light on the right side of the model, to get some separation on the back, maybe just a line, no need for too much light. position it from the back, I think it will create more depth in the image. What is "the next step" you have in mind? |

Thank you for your response. Do you think I could have done anything else to take that next step? I agree with Mike, a light behind the model or slightly on the side to get more DOF would bring more contrast, again it's more a photographers preference. I found this site that might be also helpful. ~Teddy Edited by Teddy on Feb 18, 2010 8:07 PM |

Than Hi TEddy, Thanks for sharing that link! Profoto is a great strobe system! I used them myself several times. We might have a profoto system in my next studio workshops on 2/27 and 2/28. Check it out! Hope to see you guys there! |

Thank you for your response. Do you think I could have done anything else to take that next step? Mike, I think that next step is to make my photos hit the wow factor. I take mainly ok/good photos but theres always something that could have done to make them better. Granted I am using the basic Nikon thats out there and my "studio equipment" is basic contiunes lighting, So there are avenues to take for better gear but I am one to master the basic level and then move onto better things. |

someone told me that the person is the one's that's taking the pictures.. camera itself doesn't take the pictures :) I used to think that to get good pictures is to use the best equipment out there... until one day one of my friends told me that my pictures using Nikon D50 with kit lens is better than his pictures with his D300
I'm not trying to be obnoxious though.. I still have soooo much to learn.. but I've learned not to get discouraged by my tools limitation.. :)
