Hi all,

This NEW workshop will include two models that we'll be photographing an engagement style photo session with.
This is a GREAT opportunity for anyone who is interested in wedding photography.
You will see how to work with a couple, how to pose them, how to communicate to them what you have in mind for the shoot.
They are a beautiful couple! You will be able to use this to build your portfolio for engagement photos!

I will teach the following:

  • Posing techniques.
  • Working outdoor with available light.
  • Working with reflectors to control the light.
  • Coming up with ideas for the photos.
  • Composition techniques.
  • Communicating your ideas for the photo to the couple.
  • Using multiple flashes at night for creating dramatic photographs.
  • And much more!!!!

Model:
Julia and her husband.

Duration:
The workshop will be from 3pm to 10pm (dinner break at 7pm - not included)

Agenda:

  • 2:45pm - 3:00pm - Meeting and greeting.
  • 3:00pm - 4:30pm - Working with the models. including 1:1 photography time for each photographer.
  • 4:30pm - 4:45pm - Short break, change wardrobe + recap / questions.
  • 4:45pm - 7:00pm - Working with the models. including 1:1 photography time for each photographer.
  • 7:00pm - 8:30pm - Dinner at a local restaurant (not included in the workshop fee).
  • 8:30pm - 10:00pm - Night-time photography explanation + short 1:1 time with the models.

Payment:
This workshop will cost $82.70 Payable only via PayPal!

Location:
The Tech Museum of Innovation
201 S Market St. San Jose, CA 95113
Please be on time!!! We are working with professional models, so please respect their time and be in-front of the tech museum on 2:45pm. We will start the workshop at 3:00pm SHARP!!! If you are not there you will not be able to find us!!!!!

Parking:
You will have to arrange for your own parking! There are few parking garages on 2nd st. Again, please take that into consideration when planning your time! Allow enough time for finding parking - it is San Jose downtown!!!!

What to bring?:
Bring your Cameras, Lenses, tripods!
You will be shooting!!!! So bring everything you have.
Preferably you should have a DSLR camera! You would not photograph a wedding with a point and shoot! if you don't have a DSLR - rent one! Calumet has great deals! Calumet website link

I'm limiting this workshop to 20 people total!
Please sign up as soon as possible - I will not have more then 20 people (total) for this workshop!

Please answer these 3 questions when you signup:

  • What type of camera do you have?
  • Do you have experience working with couples?
  • Are you working now as a wedding photographer? or Are you planing on working as a wedding photographer?

This will be a great workshop! The couple is wonderful, and I will teach everything I do!
See you there!

I'll have another one like this on Nov. 29 in San Francisco with other models.

Who attended?

  • 13 attendees
    •  The workshop was fun. Mike was a great instructor and he had a lot of ideas. He was always very helpful with questions and shared a TON of knowledge. The other attendees were all very friendly.
    •  good workshop. good instruction, fun models
    •  The couple was great. The workshop went as planned (except for the short delay at the beginning) I can't wait to see what everyone got.
    •  Lots of fun working with the models. Organizer was very helpful and shared his ideas, creative talent.
    •  Mike did a very good job organizing the shoot. He selected a great location, provided assistance whenever asked and helped set up some very interesting shots. The models followed direction well and were very nice to boot. I would pay more for future shoots with fewer photographers, just from a timing perspective. All of the other photographers I interacted with were also helpful and easy to talk to. Overall, I got some great shots and met some cool people.
    •  I think it was fabulous!!! But could have been so much better and productive with less photographers meeting up in a session with 1 couple.
    •  It is a fast paced environment but with plenty of peers to help you out. Not only can you ask Mike, but you can easily ask other members for assistance and their insight. Its a great place to bounce ideas off of one another and build a network.
